If you need a smartphone and you’re looking for a great deal, perhaps you should consider the new Ulefone Vienna that goes for only $199.99 on Gearbest. True, it’s another device from another Chinese brand but Ulefone Vienna doesn’t really look like a cheap phone.
The unibody design plus the 2.5D curved screen makes it look like a premium device. Ulefone Vienna may have a plastic build but the frame is solid metal. It sports a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p full HD resolution and it sure looks like a solid phone on paper.
As for the hardware, the device is powered by an octa-core processor, a MediaTek MT6753 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. This is accompanied by a Mali-T720 graphic processing unit (GPU). The device comes with a 3GB random access memory (RAM) and there’s a lot of internal memory to play with. It comes with 32GB ROM and you can expand it up to 64GB via the microSD slot.
There’s a 13MP shooter at the back, a Panasonic MN34172 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. For low-light photography, it is equipped with a dual-LED flash. Up front is a OmniVision OV5648 sensor-powered 5MP selfie camera.
Under the hood is a capable 3,250mAh. This is a 4G phone and it supports a wide range of network bands. Theoretically, it should work in most parts of the world.
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz
For security, there’s a fingerprint sensor at the back that can register up to 5 fingerprints. It’s a dual-SIM phone but it comes with a hybrid SIM slot. This means you have to choose between using a second SIM and a microSD card.
The device ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop which is a bit old considering that Android Marshmallow has been out for a while and Google is almost done with Android N. The device comes with U Launcher, Ulefone’s propritary software.
As good as the phone looks, it goes for only $199.99. You can pre-order on Gearbest before it starts shipping on the 30th of April.
