Tecno Camon C9 has been with us for a couple of weeks and I’ve had the opportunity to personally use the phone in the past one week. Every thing worthy of mention was touched in the full review published a few days ago, but certain things were left out. While these are not necessarily important to most people, it’s those little things I can’t help but talk about.
A refined HiOS
Tecno Boom J8 introduced HiOS, but to be honest, a few things were not right about HiOS. Of course, it was the very first version and there were bound to be bugs, but it did feel like the software was a bit rushed.
Tecno Camon C9 totally removed any skeptical opinion anyone might have about HiOS. The UI looks closer to perfection now, if it’s not even perfect already. The icons look redesigned and you can’t help but notice how smooth it feels.
HiOS sets the standard of what a custom user interface should be and I personally love it. Except you’re a Nexus person who doesn’t fancy custom UIs, this should win you over. The tools we’re saw available to speed your phone are still there. If you’re also keen good designs, you should see that attention is paid to details with this UI.
Micro-intelligence
We know this isn’t new and most smartphone vendors use it. However, it still feels good to see Tecno not ignoring this nifty feature. Double-tap to wake, quick-starting apps with gestures and lots of these I have on my current device, but one feature I particularly enjoy is how easier it is now to take screenshots.
Just sliding down the screen with three fingers does it. Looks like I’m totally done with holding the power button and volume down button.
Android Marshmallow: App Permissions
Tecno went with Android Marshmallow this time, and so far, it’s the latest Android OS available publicly. Android 6.0 is exactly what Android OS should have been right from the start.
The App Permissions section is deeply integrated with the settings and you can toggle these on and off at will. This makes it easier to totally control the information you give apps. If you’ve always been on Lollipop and use a third party app to do this, you should know that Google has finally opened this up in the Settings.
You can easily disallow Chrome or Facebook from accessing your location without turning off GPS.
Other features
It was also not mentioned in the review that Tecno Camon C9 comes with a notification light that shows on the home key.
Also, apart from simply locking and unlocking your phone, Eyeprint lets you encrypt applications too.
