It’s no longer news that Nigeria’s 5th mobile network operator, Ntel, is commencing commercial operations. Over the last few weeks, users have been allowed to reserve numbers prior to the launch. Number reservation is still ongoing and you can take that advantage to select your own custom phone number.
Tariff Plans
Plan | Amount | Validity | Benefits |
Smart Phone Starter | ₦1,000 | 3 days | Unlimited data, 30 minutes voice calls, SMS |
Standard Plan | ₦2,400 | 7 days | Unlimited Data, 70 minutes calls, SMS |
Monthly plans | ₦9,000 | 30 days | Unlimited data, 300 minutes calls, SMS |
Although the plans are unlimited, free usage policy applies and a data cap of 3GB daily applies after which the speed will be throttled to 512kb/s. Customers are also expected to use the service for personal, non-commercial use.
Free Unlimited data for 3 months, free life calls
For the first 100,000 to register their Ntel numbers, the company has some enticing freebies. According to reports, the first set of 100,000 customers will get to enjoy free unlimited internet access for three months. It is also said that these subscribers will enjoy free calls for life but we can’t verify the validity of these claims.
Awesome speed
Ntel is promising broadband speed up to 230Mbps. While is looks pretty exciting, we’re still keeping our fingers crossed as network operators are often known for gimmicks. Existing 4G operators like Spectranet offer nothing close to this. These provideers actually operate nothing but glorified 3G networks branded 4G LTE.
Information on SIM purchase and registration
At the moment, there’s no information on this. Even reserved phone numbers are not yet available for pickup but we expect more information in coming weeks.
