I recently jailbroke my iPhone 4s running iOS 7.1.1 untethered with Pangu and the first issue I faced was with iFunbox. My device was detected but it wasn’t appearing properly. There are times when iFunbox sees a jailbroken device as a jailed one but this case was different. I was shown only 3 sections on iFunbox:
- User Applications
- App File Sharing
- File Search Results
This is abnormal as stuffs like Raw File System, General Storage, Wallpapers, iBooks, System Applications, Ringtones, iBooks and the rest were completely hidden. I installed afc2add from ModMyi repo like I did when I previously had a similar issue with iFunbox but this didn’t fix it.
Understanding the problem
A certain service (afc2) is needed to browse the whole file system on the iPhone and when it’s absent, USB browsers like iFunbox and iPhoneBrowsers will see your jailbroken device as a jailed one.
Most new jailbreaks doesn’t come with this service anymore and that’s why this problem is so common. Cydia tweaks like afc2add that worked pretty well on older iOS versions seem not compatible with iOS 7.1.2.
How to fix
Fixing this error is easy as all you need to do is download the right tweak to get the service running:
– Launch Cydia and search for Apple File Conduit “2”.
– Install it when it shows up. It’s by Jay Freeman and located in Cydia/Telesphoreo repository.
-Reboot your device and reconnect to iFunbox.
– Your device should be properly detected with all sections showing up correctly.
