Facebook timeline profile and all about it was explained on one of my previous posts, outlining the new features and the official way to get it. I guess you should officially sign up for timeline before trying out the faster method to get it which is outlined in this post. It was supposed to go public about 10 days ago but it’s now been shifted to October 13. There’s actually fast, easy way to get facebook timeline, the new profile that’ll soon be enabled for all. For now, only facebook developers can actually see what it looks like. I already have it enabled on my facebook profile and I must tell you, I actually love the way it looks, especially the cover picture. It gives your profile some sort of personal web page look instead of just a social network profile.
You don’t have to be a real developer to access this new profile and you can actually have it in less than five minutes. The only shortcoming of this method is that only developers can see it or anyone who has enabled his/her developer account. It seems facebook is trying to perfect it before going public with it on October 13.
Quick Way To Enable Facebook Timeline Profile
You need to access facebook developer page by following this link. If you haven’t accessed this area before (I’ve done it countless times though I’m not a real facebook developer) ,It should ask for permission to access your account like any other facebook application, just click on Allow and and continue.
On the next page, click the Create New App button located at the top right of the page.
Enter any desired name in the Application Display Name field and enter a unique App Namespace. This can be whatever you like too as long as anyone hasn’t taken it yet.
Enter the captcha and continue with the process. If you’ve never verified your account, you may be asked to verify your account at this poitn with your mobile phone number or credit card. Of course verifying your account with your mobile phone is much more easier but you can use th other option in case you don not have a mobile phone.
The next page shows some basic details about your newly created facebook application. Don’t worry, you’re not doing some techie stuff on developing an application and you won’t be needing all that because the application is as good as useless, it’s only a way to access the developer page. Now check the links on the left and click on Open Graph.
On the next page, you’ll be asked what can be done with your newly created application. You can fill in anything you like ex. watch a movie, play a game, read a book, etc.
Hit the Get Started button and you’re done! Just wait for a couple of minutes and go to your facebook homepage. You should see a message asking you to get the developer preview of Timeline profile.
Like I said earlier, this is only gonna be visible to other people who are developers but it’s gonna be accessible to everyone when it finally goes public. isn’t it great to get accustomed to it before it goes public?
