Google Adsense is one of the easiest and surest ways to generate some online income. You might ask how does this adsense thing works? Google adsense is an advertisement serving program run by google and almost anyone can participate as long as you have a website or blog that’s in line with Google Adsense terms of service.
It’s is the very best way to monetize your blog and get paid for all your effort. I’ve tried other advertisers like Bidvertiser but none of them equals google in terms of publisher’s earnings.
Website or blog owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image or video ads on their website or blog. This includes mobile sites as well but adsense for mobile is not yet available in some countries like Nigeria.
There are different types of adsense and they are listed below:
1. Adsense for content: This shows text or image advertisements on a blog or site. Google tends to match the ads with the site/blog’s content to display ads relating to the site’s content. If the ads are clicked, the site visitor is taken o the advertisers site and the publisher gets paid so far the click is a valid one.
2. Adsense for search: Offer your visitors site search or web search while earning revenue from ads relevant to their search queries. Google allows publishers to place a search box on their site or blog. When visitors use this search box, ads are shown on the result page and any revenue generated from these ads are shared with the publisher. Merely running a search will not generate any income though unless the ads are clicked.
3. Adsense for feeds: Google places relevant ads in rss or atom feeds. It works by inserting images into a feed. When the image is displayed by a RSS reader or Web browser, Google writes the advertising content into the image that it returns. The advertisement content is chosen based on the content of the feed surrounding the image. When the user clicks the image, he or she is redirected to the advertiser’s website in the same way as regular AdSense advertisements.
4. Adsense for mobile: This more or less like adsense for content. Google displays ads relevant to site’s content but in this case, mobile sites. Adsense for mobile is not yet available in all countries though.
5. Adsense for domain: This is available for parked domains. That is, domains not yet developed or parked for sale. This is a way for domain owners to monetize their parked domains.
As a blogger, you can register for adsense and use the first three I mentioned up there. One thing you must keep in mind is that your site must comply with Google adsense terms of service. It’s one hell of a long and boring piece to read through but you’ve got to do this if you’re new to this adsense stuff.
Sign up, get your ad code, paste them on your site and the ads begin showing up in a matter of minutes. There are certain basic rules which I’ll try to explain in my next post. But I advise you to read though the terms of service or you might go against it and have your account disabled.
After signing up, login, create an ad and you’ll be given your adsense code. You can now paste this code on your blog and start earning from clicks. When your earnings reach the minimum payout which is 70 pounds, Google issues out a check and sends it to the address your provided in your account settings.
