Writing a blog post can be fun for people that know the art of writing. It can also a very big problem for those that don’t know how to write and this often lead to one being a copy cat. I am going to explain the six (6) steps one should follow to write a blog post effectively and efficiently.

Writing a blog post

1. Know what you want to write about

You have to know the core subject of the topic you want to write about. This can be done by restricting the topic of what you want to write about. Make your topic short and precise for your audience to fully understand what exactly you want to share. Another important step here is to ensure that the topic captures what you want to write about so that your readers will have the glimpse of what exactly they are about to read.

2. Define your own philosophy of what you want to write about

Defining the philosophy of your blog post simply means that you should state the objectives of your blog post. What problem is your blog post solving? What is the core value of your blog post? Are you adding value? This step will help you answer the above questions because if you choose a topic that has no philosophy attached to it, you will end up scaring your visitors away.

3. Write the outline

Before writing a blog post, you need to write an outline. The outline will enable you to be focused. It will enable you to write like a professional and thus enable your readers to read to their understanding.

For instance you want to blog on the topic:

The Outline can be

Outlining your points will aid step by step explanation. It will also enhance understanding from the readers.

Therefore the introduction part of the blog post must be written very attentively and in an attractive manner because it can make or mar your blog post. The introduction of your blog post has two parts which is the thesis statement and the topic sentence. The Thesis sentence captures the essence of the topic e.g.

For instance, considering a topic: Problems Associated with Keyword Research in Blogging

Your introduction can be:  In this post, I want to state and analyze the problems associated with keyword research in Blogging

The Topic sentence gives a glimpse on the outline

5. Write the body of the blog post

Under this section, you will be expanding the outline you already written out in step 3. The effective way to write the body of a blog post is to use a PIE method.

P-POINTS: Here, you list the points. The outline you have already written.

I-ILLUSTRATION: You illustrate your points here by expanding it. Explain your points here

E-EMPHASIS: A great explanation always comes with emphasis. Give example and details to your blog reader to enable them really understand your post.
