Tecno Phantom Z: An Accidental Drop Test

Tecno Phantom Z: An Accidental Drop Test

July 4, 2015

Tecno Phantom Z was reviewed on this blog last year and if you missed it, you can still check the full review of the device here. It’s been a great device and till date, I can say its the best thing from Tecno Mobile I’ve laid my hands on.

I hope you weren’t expecting a video showing me dropping this device in a bid to destroy it intentionally, right? Good. Like the title says, the phone was accidentally dropped. Actually, it was dropped twice and both times it landed right on its face, smashing the screen badly.

The first time it happened was about four months ago and the phone fell from a locker about 6 feet tall. It landed on bare concrete and the screen shattered. Perhaps a tempered glass screen protector could’ve made a difference, who knows? Another two weeks later, my fiancée dropped it but surprisingly, the phone still works.

I’ve been expecting things to start going wrong with the device all this while but I’ve seen nothing so far. Apart from the damaged screen, there was no internal hardware damage and the touch remains perfectly calibrated. It’s been over four months now and she’s been using it that way because she hasn’t gotten the chance to take it to Carlcare.

I was arguing with a friend about how durable the phone was the other day and I killed the argument by showing him this. Thinking of buying the device? It’s still available online.
