Take your Best ever Smartphone Snaps with the Nokia Lumia 1020

Take your Best ever Smartphone Snaps with the Nokia Lumia 1020

Nokia looks set to take smartphone cameras to the next level with the release of the Lumia 1020, which boasts a mighty impressive sounding 41-megapixel camera. Compare this to the eight-megapixels offered by the hugely popular iPhone 5 and 13-megapixels by Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and you can see the Finnish company is looking to blow the competition out of the water when it comes to smartphone photography.

Both Apple and Samsung’s 4g mobile phones are capable of taking snaps of a perfectly good standard, so just how much better is the Nokia Lumia 1020 likely to be? That remains to be seen, but some of the sample pictures certainly look of a higher quality than is achievable using your average smartphone. Like other Nokia releases it uses Carl Zeiss optics and has optical image stabilisation, impressive features that have recently a warm response from customers.

To further help you get the right image, Nokia is also rolling out its Pro Camera software, which will give you the chance to play around with settings such as shutter speed, focus, white balance and ISO settings, just like you can on a DSLR camera. It’s a nice touch, but photography novices are covered too by the auto mode, which will try to determine the best setup for your surroundings. Another handy feature is Nokia Smart Camera, which allows you to take multiple shots and draw together some of the best elements from each to make a better final image. Getting the whole picture is easy too as Panorama will still together your images for a great shot.

The smartphone, of course, makes use of the Windows Phone 8 operating system and could well turn out to be the best handset making use of it to date. It has a 4.5-inch AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 32GB internal memory and an additional seven GBs of cloud storage.

However, those wanting to get a pay monthly 4g contract could also look at the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 amongst others, as each has impressive tech specs of their own. You’ll also get access to around 160,000 downloadable apps, which isn’t as many of available in the App Store or via the Google Play Store but should be enough to serve most of your needs.

Does the Nokia Lumia 1020 appeal to you?
