Which smartphone you would go for if you’re to hold HTC Butterfly and Samsung Galaxy S3 on your two hands? Both phones are equipped with amazing features and run the latest Android operating system but let us find out which is better by comparing the two devices.

 Display

The HTC Butterfly sports 5-inch Super LCD3 panel providing a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels where as the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The pixel density of Butterfly is 440.6 ppi and the Galaxy S3 has 306.042 ppi.

Size/Weight

HTC Butterfly weighs 140g where is the Galaxy S3 is lighter with just 133g. The Butterfly is taller but the Galaxy S3 is wider. The former measures 5.63 x 2.78 x 0.36 inches (143 x 70.5 x 9.08 mm) and the later is 5.38 x 2.78 x 0.34 inches (136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm).


 Connectivity

The HTC Butterfly supports NFC technology, 3G/HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is packed with NFC, 3G/HSDPA, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and EDR.

 Processor

HTC Butterfly is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon chip and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is jammed with quad core Exynos 4412, clocked at 1.4GHz.

 Operating system

HTC Butterfly runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and is upgradeable to the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean where as the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes out of the box with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and is upgradeable to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

 Camera/Video


HTC Butterfly is mounted with 8MP camera offering a resolution of 3264 x 2448 and comes with autofocus, touch focus, face/smile detection, LED flash, geo-tagging, simultaneous video/photo recording and 1080p video recording. It is also equipped with a 2.1MP front camera for video calling.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 too is equipped with 8MP rear camera and is packed with features like autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, geo-tagging, face/smile detection, image stabilization and 1080p video recording. On the front side it is mounted with 1.9MP camera.

 Storage

HTC Butterfly is equipped with 16GB of on-board storage and it can be expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The S3 comes with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage variants and its memory too can be expandable up to 64GB with microSD card.

 Extras

The HTC Butterfly comes with GPS/A-GPS, NFC, accelerometer, digital compass, gyroscope, stereo FM radio, TV-out, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot functionality and Beats Audio. The Galaxy S3 on the other hand is equipped with GPS/A-GPS, NFC, accelerometer, gyroscope, digital compass, barometer, stereo FM radio with RDS, S-Voice, TV-out and Smart Stay eye-tracking.

 Verdict
