Free Alternative to TuneUp Media to Fix Album Art and Song Name

Free Alternative to TuneUp Media to Fix Album Art and Song Name

A while ago, I made a post on how to fix missing song info including album art and make your iTunes library look much better. The procedure given in the post still works but then, you need to purchase TuneUp Media to actually do this. One thing I’ve come to realize is that for every shareware you have to pay for, there’s likely to be a freeware that’s going to do the job. It’s only up to you to find it. With this software I’ll be talking about shortly, you can fix missing album art, song name, album title and more. It keeps your music library organized and if all you have are tracks labelled Track01, Track02 and such, this software will retrieve the song name and every missing info. The recent update fixed some bugs in the program making it almost perfect and a couple of new features were added.

How does it work?

Unlike other software programs meant to do this, MusicBrainz Picard is completely free and uses AcoustID fingerprint to identify you unnamed tracks. The huge, regularly updated database can identify most tracks and in most cases, there’s a high percentage of success.

How to Use

– Download MusicBrainz Picard

– Run the software

– Go to Options > Fingerprinting, click on Get API key and on AcoustID website, log in to get an API key to use with the software.

– Input your given API key and save your changes

– Drag and drop your unnamed tracks into MusicBrainz Window

– In most cases, this should work just fine but some tracks may not be identified. If this happens, you can fill such tracks with basic metadata by editing their properties and then selecting “Lookup,” it should work just fine.

It’s a great free alternative to TuneUp Media that does what it’s supposed to do.
