3 Recommended Exercises for Bloggers and Those Who Spend Too Much Time on PC

If you are like most internet people, you spend 99.9% of your time on the computer. Even when you are not blogging,  you are watching movies, playing games or just browsing the internet.

Chances are  that you spend bulk of your time sitting at your work desk trying to achieve internet business success.  As lofty and great as your goals are, you need to start contributing to your health lifestyle today or you could get hurt in the future.

Sitting is Killing Your Body

Last  year in lifehacker, a contributor took time to state the negative effects of sitting too long on your desk. The writer said that when you sit too long:

  1. Your risk of heart disease increases by up to 64 percent.
  2. You’re shaving off seven years of quality life.
  3. You’re also more at risk for certain types of cancer.

To counter the negative effects of sitting too long, people have recommended the standing desk. You’ll find more information about the standing desk on Google.

This article is about exercises recommended for those who  stay long  over the computer or those who spend much more time sitting and working from their PCs.

I have found these 3 different exercises to  be helpful to  me personally, hence the recommendation.

Recommended Exercise #1: Skipping Rope

This is my favorite exercise. Once everyday I endeavor to jump rope or skip rope in my room. It takes less than 10 minutes and does not take me far away from my computer.

Wikipedia reveals that…

“Skipping may be used for a cardiovascular workout, similar to jogging or bicycle riding. This aerobic exercise can achieve a “burn rate” of up to 700 calories per hour of vigorous activity, with about 0.1 calories consumed per jump.

Ten minutes of jumping rope is roughly the equivalent of running an eight-minute mile. Jumping rope for 15–20 minutes is enough to burn off the calories from a candy bar.”

I didn’t know about that anyway before I started jumping rope as a regular health exercise. This exercise is highly recommended for bloggers.

Recommended Exercise #2: Push Ups

I don’t do this often,  just once in a while. You know why? I always fall down on the third or fourth swing. Lol

Trying some  pushups regularly is a great  exercise for bloggers. They say  there are  many forms of pushups but I say forget them. We are not trying to pass exams or win contests. We are just trying to keep fit and doing this regularly can go a long way to keep your body in a pretty good shape.

Recommended Exercise #3: Occasional Trekking

We Africans understand this properly. In fact, the term trek was derived from Afrikaans. It  means to  walk long distances by foot when means of quicker transport is not available.

Ok, whether there is means of transport or not, we could do  this as a way to willfully contribute to our health. For me sometimes,  when I’m going somewhere and I have time on my side, I  would  prefer to trek.  Sometimes when coming back from Church or office, I would stop somewhere and trek the other distance to me house.

This is a smart way to contribute to  my health yet without losing browsing and blogging time..

Conclusion

While you are trying to blog your way to the bank,  please contribute much more to your health by eating good stuff and maintaining a couple of exercise schedules.

To  your success
