Yunmai Massage Gun Mini 2 is the latest addition to Yumai’s Mini product line, and as the name suggests, this is a compact handheld massage gun that is smaller than the average. While this may look underpowered when put up against bigger and more expensive options like the EasePro we reviewed last year, compact massage guns such as this have their own specific application and use cases. Besides, the Mini 2 has a feature that sets it apart—heat therapy that aims to improve blood circulation, but more on this later.
Unboxing, First Impressions, and Design
The Mini 2 comes in a small box with these content:
- Massage Gun Mini 2
- Sharp point head
- Ball head
- Multi-point head
- USB C charging cable
- User manual
Unfortunately, this model does not come with a carry case, and this means you have to find a way to safely carry it around. Yunmai Massage Gun Mini is compact in hand and lightweight at only 383g—This is about the weight of two iPhone 15 Pro devices.
The design features a plastic material with a matte finish, and the short grip has a series of horizontal grooves running down its length. These grooves provide a textured surface that significantly enhances friction, ensuring a secure and stable hold during use. However, the handle looks noticeably short, which might make it harder to use on certain parts of the body.
The panel at the back has a single button that provides all the controls required to effectively operate this device, and this is easily accessible with the thumb when held and in use.
- Long-pressing this button turns the device on and off;
- Double-tapping turns the heater on and off;
- Single-tapping changes the speed.
Just below this is the USB port. There is a small removable sticker covering this area that gives a brief but comprehensive overview of how to operate without needing to check the user manual.
While the device comes with 3 extra heads made of silicon, it should be mentioned that the default flat head is not detachable. The extras provided are more like extensions that fit right on top of the default head, offering varying experiences depending on your needs.
With the packaging, build, control mechanism and every other aspect of the design, it is apparent that minimalism is the aim here.

Performance and Features
For a ‘mini’ massage gun, it is natural to keep one’s expectations low, but the Mini 2 exceeded those expectations in several ways. Coming from a massage gun with a stall force of 20kg, I was predicting the Mini 2 to feel no more than a vibration on the skin with its 8kg stall force, but using it over the few days proved me wrong.
The effort it takes to exert the full stall force should be enough to give you the required massage, especially when used in combination with heat therapy.
Heat therapy
The heat therapy feature is the main selling point of the Mini 2, and this is basically designed to quickly improve blood circulation and help you better relax the muscles. Surprisingly, the device heats to 42.5ºC in just 10 seconds, helping you get to business as quickly as possible. The default temperature is just right: neither too hot to cause a burn nor too low cold to be ineffective.
This concurrent application of massage and heat therapy accelerates blood circulation and alleviates muscle fatigue and pain more effectively, delivering quick relaxation and rejuvenation to affected areas of the body.
Massage heads
The Mini 2 comes with four different massage heads that offer different experiences, allowing you the freedom to tailor your massage sessions to your needs.
- Heat Therapy Head (Flat): This head provides soothing warmth, which is ideal for relaxing large muscle groups such as the arms, lower back, and legs.
- Multi-Point Head: This attachment is perfect for targeted relief, especially in areas experiencing significant muscle soreness.
- Ball Head: A versatile head that works well for general muscle relaxation across the entire body.
- Sharp Point Head: Specifically crafted for acupressure points, this head is excellent for deep tissue massage on the palms, feet, and other precise areas.
The three removable heads are made of silicone material which is very skin-friendly. However, the heat therapy head only works with the flat head fixed on the massage gun by default. This cannot be removed. The other silicon heads are fitted on top of the default heat therapy head. Even with the head turned on, it does not transfer to the silicon heads.
Power and Speed Settings
Unlike full-size massage guns that are designed to hit the muscles hard and punch really deep, mini massage guns are generally on the lower side of the specifications scale to serve their own specific purposes. Yunmai Mini 2 features an amplitude of 6mm, 8kg of stall force, and speed ranging from 1800RPM (lowest) to 3200RPM (highest).
When it comes to quick recovery from soreness, I’ve personally found the default flat-head with the heat turned on at medium speed to be my go-to. It offers effective recovery from muscle soreness after a long hard day.
The stall force determines how deep you are able to push the massage gun into your muscles before it shuts off, and 8kg on the Mini 2 is just about the standard for mini massage guns.
Battery Life and Charging
Chances are that you already have several Type-C cables and chargers around the home, and this device uses a USB-C charging port, which is convenient and modern. Yunmai Mini 2 has a 1500mAh battery capacity, which offers up to 600 minutes (10 hours) of battery life on a single full charge. Realistically, using this device for about thirty minutes daily should take like 20 days before the battery is depleted.
However, it should be emphasized that this depends on your use case, with the heat therapy and speed settings being the ultimate deciding factors. Charging time is approximately 2.5 hours, ensuring the device is ready when you need it.
Portability and Ease of Use
For most people, portability is an important feature when going for a mini massage gun, and the Yunmai Mini 2 checks this box quite well. Although the lack of a carrying case is a bit disappointing, the size is so compact that it can easily fit into your handbag. It even fits into your jeans pocket, albeit with a little bulge.
The lightweight build also ensures your wrist is not strained while in use. The control is very simple and straightforward, with only a button performing the major functions. It only takes a minute or two to memorize the difference between tapping, long-pressing, and double-clicking this button to perform the desired functions.
Additionally, it includes a smart massage protection feature that automatically ceases operation after 15 minutes to prevent over-massaging.
Noise
The Yunmai Massage Gun Mini 2 offers a pleasant massage experience with a noise level ranging from 43dB to 65dB (depending on the speed), making it quieter than many other massage guns on the market. This ensures you can enjoy relief from soreness and stiffness without the distraction of noise.
Verdict
The Yunmai Massage Gun Mini 2 is an impressive compact massage device that delivers on its promises. Its key features, such as heat therapy reaching 42.5°C, multiple massage heads, and variable speed settings with up to 3200 RPM, make it a versatile tool for muscle relaxation and recovery. While it lacks a carry case, its portability and ease of use more than compensate for this. For its price, it offers great value and is a recommended addition to any wellness routine.
