Hard Reset Google Nexus S

You don’t have to run to a specialist each time you have a problem with your android smartphone. Some problems can be solved by performing a simple hard reset. Google Nexus S can turn out to freeze at time or won’t boot at all and your phone might just be acting funny. Loads of installations and other things can slow your phone down and mess up the general operation of the phone. At a time like this, restoring the phone back to default factory settings is a good idea. To reset Google Nexus S back to factory settings or perform a hard reset, follow any of the two methods below:

A. If you can still access the menu and perform some basic operations

1. From the home screen, tap the menu icon

2. Click on Settings and tap Privacy.

3. Go to Factory data reset.

4. Select Reset phone.

5. If prompted, enter your password.

Wait some minutes till the process is complete.

B. If the phone is frozen or won’t boot up

1. Turn off the phone or remove and reinsert the battery

2. Hold the volume down and press power key simultaneously (if volume down and power key doesn’t bring out the menu, try volume up and power key)

3. You should now see a menu with options like Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage and Simlock

4. With the volume down key, choose Clear Storage

5. Press the power key

6. With the volume up button, select yes.

This will make you lose all personal data and installed applications. The phone will be restored to how it was at purchase.
Formatting The SD Card (Memory Card)

In case you intend to wipe off all data on your memory card too, follow these steps:

1. Go to Menu and select Settings.

2. Click SD card & phone storage.

2. Select Unmount SD card.

3. Select OK.

4. Wait for the Format SD card option to highlight and select it.

5. Tap Format SD card.

The SD card will be formatted in a matter of minutes.
