Gionee Marathon M5 has been in the news lately and judging from the reviews I’ve seen online, it looks like a pretty great phone to have. This isn’t just the regular Android device, Gionee Marathon M5 has a whopping 6020mAh battery capacity and it offers up to 682 hours of standby time. I read the review on Gadgets360 and thought this should be my next phone.
The excellent battery life makes it a good choice. The manufacturer claim you can get 4 days of active talk time with the high-capacity battery. Gionee Marathon M5 has a 5.5 screen with HD resolution and this is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The slim body has a metallic finish and this adds to the device’s beauty.
Although the huge battery makes the phone a bit heavy at 211g, it’s something anyone can live with. Gionee Marathon M5 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Amigo OS on top of it. The device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 SoC and there’s a 4GB RAM. You also have a 32GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 128GB via the microSD card slot.
There’s a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and at the front, there’s another 5MP camera for selfies. With the huge battery capacity, you should expect the phone to support USB OTG. This means it can be used as a power bank to charge other devices. The device can also function as a universal remote control to control home appliances.
Based on the reviews I’ve read, here are things people say:
- It is extra value for money
- The display is crystal clear
- It hardly ever hangs or gets hot
- It’s quite heavy in weight
- The sound would have been better with more bass
- Does not come with the OTG cord to charge multiple devices.
With all these said, what would you rate the Gionee M5 (Over 10) and why? Do you think it’s worth buying considering other devices in the same price range? It costs about ₦47,000 right now on Konga.
