Cortana for Android (Public Beta): A Video Comparison with Siri

Cortana for Android (Public Beta): A Video Comparison with Siri

September 8, 2015

Cortana for Android was release a couple of weeks ago as a public beta and some people saw it as a big surprise from Microsoft. Cortana, Microsoft’s response to Siri, is definitely one of the perks you get with a Windows Phone and putting this artificial intelligence on the Android platform is a move a lot of people do not understand.

What exactly does Microsoft get from putting it’s proprietary artificial intelligence on a competing platform? It’s obvious Microsoft wants customers to have an integrated experience across their devices. That’s one thing Microsoft has been saying in its Windows 10 campaign and a lot of people see this strategy as a way to lure more users into Windows 10. Microsoft is striving to allow customers have a unified experience across all devices, no matter what platforms they are. It appears Microsoft’s target are customers with a Windows PC and a non-Windows smartphone.

We recently installed the public beta of Cortana for Android and compared it with Siri in this video:

Setting up requires a Microsoft account but the steps are pretty easy. Using Cortana on your Android device already? Let’s know what you think about it.
