How to Root Tecno Phantom Z (Tecno A7)

November 2, 2014

We recently reviewed the Tecno Phantom Z and we can confirm that the phone performs quite well. The Octacore device running Android 4.4.2 was rooted using a very easy method. Now, if you probably don’t know why you need to root your phone, it’s advisable not to do it at all.

Rooting your device has a lot of advantages and at the same time, there are risks involved. To know what rooting means, the benefits and risks involved, you can check this article.

Disclaimer: Please note that we are not responsible if your device gets bricked in the process of rooting. Also, you should be aware that rooting your Tecno Phantom Z may void the 12-month warranty that comes with Tecno devices.

However, it’s worth mentioning that this process should go smoothly. It’s not really as bad as I made it sound up there. 😛

Steps to Root Tecno Phantom Z

1. Go to Settings > Security and enable installation of apps from unknown sources as shown below:

2. Download KingRoot here.

3. Unzip the .apk file and install on your Tecno Phantom Z.

4. You may be asked to confirm the installation. Click Install anyway to continue.

5. Open the application when the installation is complete.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully rooted your Tecno Phantom Z. To confirm, you may install Root Checker Basic and verify if it has root access.

You probably a SuperSU or SuperUser app in your app drawer but there should be a KingUser app.
