Best Smartphones for Gaming in 2013

Best Smartphones for Gaming in 2013

Mobile technology has advanced at a rapid pace over the last few years. Several phones are out there and from a consumer standpoint, they serve different purposes for different people. While some use their phones mainly for photography, some dedicate theirs to mobile gaming which has become very popular in recent times. Gaming is shifting focus more and more towards mobile devices and to catch up, smartphone manufacturers are coming up with more powerful devices while game developers too are busy creating games with stunning graphics and awesome gameplay like those listed here.

iPhone 5S

Despite the undeniably superior build quality and style of the various generations of iPhones which have earned it a street credibility factor that is still unsurpassed, from a raw technological standpoint it has fallen behind several of the high end Android smartphones.

iPhone 5S

When the iPhone 5S was recently launched there was a huge amount of publicity given to all those people who supposedly queued for several days and night in order to be the first to get their hands on one. In total there were about thirty of them outside the Apple store in London, you can’t criticise Apple for their creative abilities when it comes to hype.

The previous model of the iPhone was said to be the first smartphone to be able to offer game console quality and to some extent the claims were justified, but then came the Samsung Galaxy S3 and rather stole the iPhone’s thunder.

Samsung Galaxy S4

It was considered as being the best smartphone for playing console type games and it outsold the iPhone globally. In terms of  downloadable games apps there was little difference, but it was considerably better for console type games.

Samsung galaxy s4

Good as the Galaxy S3 was, Samsung came along with an updated version, the Samsung Galaxy 4S which was better in every way. Higher resolution screen, a quad core 1.9 GHz processor, and the ability to play games with other Galaxy users over an ad hoc Wi-Fi network.

HTC One

HTC One too is not left behind with it’s tight specifications and as a matter of fact, it’s one of the best phones released this year. It comes with an Adreno 320 GPU and this runs lots of games smoothly.

Perhaps the new iPhone would usurp the Galaxy as the devoted Apple fans were hoping, but sadly this was not to be the case. The iPhone 5S is a big improvement on its predecessor, but with only a twin core 1.3 GHz processor it lags well behind the galaxy S4 when it comes to gaming. Apple needs another lucky spin of the roulette wheel if they are to catch up.
