Update: You don’t have to go though thes steps every 7 days. We have a new tutorial on how to automatically re-sign Yalu without connecting to a computer.
Following Luca Tudesco’s release of his iOS 10 jailbreak source code a couple of days ago, a working Yalu Jailbreak has been released. The new jailbreak tool supports iOS 10 to iOS 10.2 on a few devices. If you’re using the latest iPhone 7, you’re out of luck for now. iPhone 6 and older versions too are still left out, but this may change in a few days as the version released is tagged Alpha.
Only these devices are currently supported:
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone SE
- iPad Pro
- iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 5s
- iPad Air 2, iPad Air
- iPad 4
- iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2
If you are using any of the devices listed below, you are advised not to attempt this jailbreak:
- iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 5, iPhone 5c
Also, only these iOS versions are supported:
- iOS 10.0.1
- iOS 10.0.2
- iOS 10.0.3
- iOS 10.1
- iOS 10.1.1
- iOS 10.2
This jailbreak hasn’t been tested with iOS 10.2.1 and you’re advised to proceed with caution. Here are a few things to note:
- To get started, you’re advised to take a complete backup through iTunes.
- This is a semi-untethered jailbreak similar to Pangu jailbreak. You need to re-run the jailbreak app after a reboot.
- Be sure your battery percentage is above 70%.
- Be 100% sure your device and iOS version are supported.
Steps to jailbreak your iPhone using Yalu tool
1. Download Yalu tool here and also grab Cydia Impactor (macOS, Linux, Windows, Mac) here.
2. Install Cydia Impactor and run. Connect your device and be sure it’s properly detected.
3. Drag the download Yalu IPA file into Cydia Impactor.
4. You will be asked to input your Apple ID and password. This is needed to sign the IPA file. This should be safe but if you’re skeptical, you may enter a disposable Apple ID.
5. You will get an Apple Developer Warning. Just hit OK to continue.
6. After about a minute, Cydia Impactor should be done installing the app on your device. At this point, you should have a new app named yalu102 on your device.
7. To run the app, you first need to trust the developer profile. Go to Settings > General > Device Management. You should see your Apple ID here, tap it and then hit the Trust button.
8. Go to the home screen and run the Yalu app.
9. Tap the “go” button to start the jailbreak process.
10. After a while, your device should reboot. If Cydia appears on your Springboard, you’ve successfully jailbroken your iPhone or iPad.
If you get an error message on Yalu app with no Cydia installed after reboot, and you’re pretty sure all conditions are met, simply retry steps 8 and 9. I had the same issue and it worked the second time.
Note that if you restart you device, you need to launch Yalu and jailbreak the device again. This is why it’s called a semi-untethered jailbreak. You don’t need to connect to a PC to re-jailbreak as with tethered JB, but then it’s not fully untethered as you need to re-jailbreak after a reboot through the app.
Note: Unless you have an Apple developer account, Yalu stops working after 7 days when the certificate expires. You have to re-sign and re-install Yalu every 7 days.
