In an event in Ikeja earlier today, Tecno Mobile unveiled the much awaited Boom J8 after weeks of teasers. The launch confirmed quite a lot of rumors about the device and dispelled some. Tecno Boom J8 is a mid-range device, an upgrade to the Boom J7 released last year. You can read the review of the music-centric device here.
Tecno Boom J8 is no different. It’s also a music phone built specifically for music lovers. The design is quite different and offers a breath of fresh air though one can actually see a bit of iPhonesque qualities in the aesthetics.
Representatives from the Standard Organaization of Nigeria, Consumer Protection Council and Nigeria Communications Commission were present at the event. Here are some of the pictures at the event.
About Tecno Boom J8
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of HiOS, Tecno Mobile’s custom UI first seen on the Boom J8. We took a look at the software in this previously published article.
The Boom J8 has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with HD resolution. It runs Android Lollipop behind HiOS. It’s powered by a quad-core processor and has a 2GB random access memory. A 16GB storage is onboard though this can be expanded via a microSD card slot.
There’s a 13MP camera at the back and the front features a 5MP camera for selfies. The device Is priced around ₦40,000. We’ve had a unit of the device for a couple of weeks now and a review will be published any time soon.
