Blogging is big business and also something a lot of people want to go into but not everybody succeed. Many successful bloggers now smile to the bank at the end of each month to collect some very reasonable revenue, and this is the major distraction for upcoming bloggers who chase the money and forget the sole aim of blogging. Guess what? Most of the top bloggers we know now did not plan to make money from blogging until they got into it – Fact No 1. So in case you are into blogging and it seems like you are not making it, I guess you should ask yourself some of these questions below.
The first point is not going to be the usual make use of a Top level domain. If you are a blogger still using a wordpress.com or blogspot.com extension, consider changing it first before you continue reading. Now ask yourself;
Is Blogging really my Passion?
Important question! Don’t join the network of over thousands of bloggers worldwide when you don’t have passion for it. Don’t blog because you have a laptop and a modem, or you are a website designer, try owning a social network or a forum instead. Don’t blog with the sole aim of making money. That is a very big mistake. Like I said, most of the bloggers who have made it today did not plan to make money initially, even if they did, they did not go about putting all possible sizes of Adsense ads on their blog. I am not saying you should remove the ads, just reduce them. Enjoy blogging and the money would turn up sooner than you expected.
Do I have something Unique to offer?
You can’t keep copying and pasting, then expect success. Wake Up! Original articles normally rank higher than copied articles, unless your SEO is extremely perfect. Try something new! There are a lot of ways to make your blog different from others. You don’t expect to compete with top bloggers by copying their work. Be different, that’s how to get up there.
Is my blog design Scary?
Stop showing us how to use all the Plugins, Widgets and Gadgets on WordPress or Blogger. We already know how to use them. Make use of only the important ones and stop the use of those ugly logos, very tiny or very large fonts. Make sure your blog is optimized for mobile devices, trust me a lot of visitors would be using mobile devices, don’t chase them away. Also make sure your blog does not take years to load. Keep your blog design simple and attractive. This is one of the keys to making your visitors want to come back next time.
How often do I Blog?
Don’t blog two or three times a week and expect some sort of miracle. Sorry to burst your bubbles, it won’t work. Get to work! Blog every day. I don’t know if I am the only one that has noticed this; most big bloggers don’t blog very often, especially on weekends. Are you thinking what I am thinking? Take advantage of this and blog even more on weekends so that you could maybe steal some of their readers, if you are lucky enough. Don’t sit down and tell me you don’t blog on weekends when you just started blogging 6 months ago. Anyways this is the point; give more time to the blogging business if you must succeed.
Do I meet the needs of my Visitors/Readers?
Take your time and do some research before writing. Nothing good comes easy. I spend about 30mins to 1 hour writing a post. Don’t rush up and publish rubbish and expect an unsatisfied reader to keep coming back to read such. Here’s the Cheat Code: Make use of as many pictures as possible and make sure your articles are very explanatory especially when you are writing tutorials. Don’t forget to reply your visitors/readers comments.
If you have answered all these questions and taken correction then the last thing you should do is…
Be Patient!
It doesn’t take a day or even few months to become a top blogger. I am a newbie, maybe just like you. I have been in this business for barely six months and here’s my advice; work hard, do your SEO, pray and enjoy blogging then you will succeed.
Cheers!
