As the trend continues, many have begun to realize the importance of having an online presence and the possibility of sharing their individual knowledge, findings, lifestyle, belief, tutorial and host of others via blogging. Among the numerous bloggers around the e-world today, we have those who blog for fun, for personal pride and ego, for religious gains, for money and host of other reasons. This article focuses on those whose aim is (was) to make money while doing their normal blogging and the 10 most probable reasons while they have not (and will possibly not) make money from blogging, frustrating them to the point of abandoning their dreams.
1. You are Lazy
One of the reasons you aren’t making money from your blog is simply because you can hardly type past 180 words in your articles making them look like an ordinary news headline. When visitors to your blog keep seeing such poorly written, non-informative articles on your blog updates they will certainly find no reason for checking back. Another form is when you just upload an image of a cat pursuing a dog, maybe with few adverts around it (needless images) on your blog without alternate text/description which hardly makes any meaning to the vast populace reading your blog. Laziness forces you to update your blog once in two months which isn’t a good practice for SEO. Any individual that wants to make money from blogging needs to work hard.
2. You choose the wrong niche
This probably explains the reason why your Adsense CPC is 0.001 always and you’re wondering if you are ever gonna receive a check with such low performing blog. Good and high paying niche with great search engine optimization should have been your first rule as a blogger who wants to makes money from blogging. You can improve on your niche blogging and see a total turnaround.
3. People don’t trust your blog title and posts
Now people hardly click on links with titles like “make $15000 in 10secs doing nothing” and the likes because every one now knows that making money from the internet is only a product of hard work, dedication, and perseverance except scamming and fraud is involved which majority of your visitors are never gonna be looking for . Many bloggers doing affiliate marketing as their main source of income often fall prey of this as they often try to make their blog and post title “eye-catching and appealing to visitors” Even if you must, then do it very wisely and constructively, you can create a topic (a sort of review) telling them about the product you are marketing then emphatically adding the link within the body of this post / review will do the magic. Also, remember to reduce the number of banners on your affiliate link/product review.
4. No good mobile view / your page is too heavy
While taking into full consideration the reasons outlined above, we must take note of the importance of good and light design. Have you recently taken the time to check your page load time statistics? You probably haven’t made money because your blog takes up to 5 minutes to fully load, this is a very disturbing fact as most first-timers never return to your site. This explains why your bounce rate is 80% and above but you can correct this by checking your page load time using the tools at tools.pingdom.com/fpt/. If your site takes long to load or have 69/100 and below, just reduce the scripts and unnecessary CSS in your site design, upload lighter images, etc. Another reason why you don’t make money from mobile traffic is because you haven’t got a mobile version and disappointed mobile visitors hardly return. Optimizing your mobile site will go a long way in changing your blogging experience.
5. Over-Eagerness
“I want to start earning from today” is the language of such bloggers who just heard one can make money from owning and publishing on a blog without minding the “laid out rules” on how to do it successfully. Now let’s explain this every successful blogger knows you need a good SEO strategy and highly contentious blog to be able to keep your visitors coming and thereby giving your blog good exposure but instead of taking time to read this “laid out rules,” you just went ahead and design a quick blog that drives away more visitors than it brings.
6. You drive away your visitors with too many ads
This is probably one of the reasons you have not been making money from your blog. Here at the top is a banner for Clickbank, another for Paydotcom, below it Amazon, Adsense, and many others: this is the mistake you urgently need to correct if that is the case with your blog. Your blog needs “more content less advert” to keep visitors returning, you also need to run at most two different ads network (maybe one affiliate & one PPC) to add value to your blog.
7. Your content is not Original
This is another reason why you have not been making money from your blog when almost half of your content is copied and lacks good command to your host of visitors who might have read them elsewhere. You need genuine content and one that ‘s worth reading to keep your visitors coming back even if you must copy other people’s blog content you need to paste halve of it (edit it) add the link back to the original author.
8. You hate Social Media and as such have no Social Media Presence /Profile
Social network sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ have millions of regular daily users who differ in interest and culture and as such might have been “the missing link” in your quest for users who are actually interested in what you blog and are ready to return to your blog on each update. Even if you hate social media so much just for the sake of users of your site who are ready to share your content with their friends and pages “add the social networks sharing buttons” like Google +1, Facebook like etc. You can simply use the ‘add this’ service to add a long roll of all popular social media.
9. Your only source of traffic is spamming
This is why many bloggers, even after many years, can’t keep a list of a decent number of subscribers. Even the ones who subscribed to your RSS feed via email keep receiving updates in their junk/spam folder probable because many people have reported your link as spam and have been recorded by these email service providers. Careless spamming can also get your link blacklisted by search engines which in turn reduces your site visitors who would have come from a web search. Another effect of spamming is tarnishing you. Imagine after taking a great deal of your time to create profiles and forum signatures link in most dofollow forums around, you now get banned due to shameless link dropping. All your links are gone, this drastically reduces any possibility of making money since there aren’t any more visitors.
10. You blog about yourself / politics / religion and racial contents
This is obvious, blogging only about this will only get you long list of arguments and angry visitors who can barely remember there is an ad to click on, because your vast majority of visitors barely share same idea with you and mustn’t be forced to. If you must blog about these issues then either forget about monetizing them or simply lower your high expectations from them.
